Apple announced the iMac with M6 on October 27, 2026, with U.S. starting prices of $1,499 for the 10-core model and $1,699 for the 12-core model. Apple had scheduled preorders to begin October 28 and customer deliveries and store availability to begin November 6.

NeoTeo previously covered Mark Gurman’s proposed schedule for Mac announcements around Apple’s October 28 event. Read that earlier coverage.

Two configurations, with ports tied to the higher tier

Apple offers the iMac with either a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU or a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU. The 12-core configuration has four Thunderbolt 4 ports and an option for 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet. Apple lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for the computer, along with memory bandwidth up to 170 GB/s and a dual 16-core Neural Engine.

The display is a 24-inch 4.5K Retina panel with a 23.5-inch actual diagonal. Apple also lists support for up to two external 6K displays, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, and seven color options.

Apple’s performance claims use specific M4 comparisons

Apple reports up to 1.5× performance in Microsoft Excel, 2× graphics performance in Affinity photo-editing tasks, 5× local prompt-processing performance in LM Studio, and 2× ray-traced gaming performance compared with an iMac with M4. Apple says it ran the tests in September 2026. Its comparison system had a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 32 GB of unified memory, and a 2 TB SSD. These figures are Apple’s workload-specific test claims.

Starting memory and Siri AI status

Macworld reports that the entry configuration starts with 16 GB of unified memory and a 256 GB SSD, the same capacities it reports for the M4 iMac’s starting configuration. That base storage figure is worth factoring into the choice between the two configurations.

Apple describes Siri AI as a beta in macOS 27.2. It requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language, so access depends on those requirements as well as the software version.
