Bart Simpson was truly diabolical when he took fifteen megaphones, lined them up, and shattered every piece of glass in Springfield, including Homer's beer. But the YouTube channel TheBackyardScientist decided to put that destructive power to the test using ten units, and the initial results are disappointing, although the experiment got much more interesting when they arranged the megaphones in a circle...

The episode in question is none other than The Secret War of Lisa Simpson, the eighth season finale that many fans consider "the last" to maintain the original quality standards (that's still a matter of debate). Both Lisa and Bart end up in military school, she by her own choice, and he for the prank of destroying all the glass in Springfield with fifteen megaphones in a row. Now... what would happen if someone actually tried to recreate Bart's prank in real life? That question was recently answered thanks to TheBackyardScientist on YouTube, who created a scaled-down version with ten megaphones.

As for the result... yes, exactly what we expected happened. The amplifiers built into the megaphones quickly reached their limit and did nothing but distort the sound. The combination of ten megaphones (five fewer than in the show) wasn't any louder than a single one, and the final audio was pure garbage. The megaphones produced a lot of feedback, and instead of continuing to fight it, in the second part of the experiment they placed them in a circle. It only took a couple of seconds for the sound level meter to hit its 120-decibel limit, forcing them to turn everything off.

So... no. Just as a beer can can't cause a mini atomic explosion, Bart Simpson's super megaphone only has that destructive effect within the show. Another detail worth noting is that the megaphones look like generic junk. At the end of the video, they tried to break a glass with one of them... and literally threw it at it. Another curiosity from The Simpsons!
