If there is one thing we can say about The Simpsons it's that its characters are recognizable from miles away. At this point it's no stretch to think of Simpson yellow, and I don't think there's anything more to add about certain peculiarities... with Marge's hairstyle at the top of the list. However, curiosity gets the better of us, and more than once we've wondered what the characters would look like with a more "human" design, so to speak. A Turkish designer named Hossein Diba decided to find out through a series of recreations with much more realistic proportions...
One of the many keys behind the success of The Simpsons is that the character design always managed to stay at a certain distance from "reality". From the "crayon yellow" to the four fingers per hand (with the exception of two characters), to huge eyes and mouths, all these factors help many jokes and situations work correctly in the series. Now, the idea of bringing The Simpsons into the real world is nothing new. In fact, "Treehouse of Horror VI" (S07E06) gave us "Homer Cubed", who ends up trapped in our world, enjoying erotic cakes.
But that Homer was just a 3D model of the original. If you've ever wondered what the Simpsons characters would look like under more human parameters... today we have a possible answer. Video game designer Hossein Diba posted on Instagram and YouTube a series of images and videos with realistic recreations of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Mr. Burns.
Diba's work has reached high-level studios like Blizzard Entertainment and CD Projekt Red, but on his social profiles you can enjoy other projects, including a striking digital replica of Monica Bellucci, and the very Jason Momoa as Kratos.
Returning to "The Simpsons", the final result is... weird. Very weird. From the neck down, everything is fine, but the faces, mouths, eyes, hairstyles... while the transformations are notable, I think I prefer them yellow and animated. What do you think? Leave a comment, and by the way, visit Diba's Instagram profile.
