It's always interesting to hear Bill Gates speak, no doubt about it. The philanthropist takes every opportunity to share details about the work he does with his wife, but technology questions are inevitable, especially those that involve him directly. In a recent interview with Fox News, Gates confirmed that he is now an Android user, and although we don't know the exact model of the device, it is loaded with "a lot of Microsoft software".
Microsoft's mobile strategy is nonexistent. Its main services have apps for iOS and Android, but Windows 10 Mobile is less than a zombie right now. A real shame, because the hardware based on the Lumia series was always interesting; however, the lack of commitment in Redmond had its consequences. Those users who still hold on to Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone 8.1 rely on support for very specific apps (WhatsApp is one of the most striking examples), but the rest simply abandoned ship. According to the latest news, one of the users who is part of the exodus is Bill Gates.

He avoided saying the exact model, perhaps in an attempt to avoid advertising conflicts, but he did say that the device contains "a lot of Microsoft software". That automatically ignited the rumor machine, and most bets are on the "Microsoft Edition" of the Samsung Galaxy S8, or as an alternative, the S8+. The smartphone debuted in April, and it shows no hardware difference when compared to the standard S8. All the changes are in the software, and the "experience" the phone offers.
During the interview, Gates also remembered Steve Jobs and his work, but he still keeps his distance from the iPhone. The Web recalls with great detail that famous ban on Apple devices in the Gates family, and as far as we can gather, the rule hasn't changed, not even with Jobs' passing.
