We've talked about many graphic editors in the past, but if all we need is to crop and resize in a group of images, is it mandatory to use a full software package? The answer is a categorical "no". Paint.NET has been my main editor for many years, and I eagerly await the stable build of its version 5.0. However, the need to load the entire editor for a simple crop or resize operation is frustrating on some occasions, especially when the session involves several images. The lack of support for batch processing is one of Paint.NET's great weaknesses, so it's not a bad idea to look for an alternative for basic actions of "resizing and cropping". How to resize and crop images at once with Birme
To begin, click Browse from your Computer, and select the images you want to process. On the right side of the interface you can define the final height and width for each, or let them be set automatically with the Auto Width and Auto Height parameters. You can also modify the aspect ratio (read as format, like 4:3 or 16:9), or force the focal point. The crop adjustment is done using the mouse, specifying the position of the final box.
The rest of the options in Birme allow the injection of watermarks, and borders for the perimeters. The format and quality menu enables the use of JPEG and WEBP (each with its quality percentage), or you can keep the original format if you wish. Finally, the Rename option is very useful to rename all the images, applying a specific pattern.
The only major limitation of Birme is that it does not separate the crop and resize operations. The "Do Not Resize" option basically nullifies the entire category, and if the goal is to crop a piece of the image and ignore the rest without making adjustments to the resolution, this webapp won't serve you. Another restriction is imposed by the browser itself when processing multiple files, but the way to escape it is using the "Save as zip" option.
