Broadcom says vSphere Standard 8 and vSphere Enterprise Plus 8 remain on sale in European Economic Area (EEA) countries through October 31, 2027. Extended Support is included with active subscriptions until the earlier of the subscription’s end date or October 31, 2028, according to Broadcom’s November 4 portfolio announcement. Network World reports that the EEA exception is unavailable outside the region, including in the United States.

What Broadcom’s EEA terms cover

The sales window applies to those two vSphere 8 editions in EEA countries. The EEA comprises EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway; Network World says the United Kingdom and Switzerland are outside the arrangement.

Extended Support follows the active subscription’s end date if it comes before October 31, 2028. So that calendar date is an outer cutoff, not a guaranteed support date for every customer. The announcement sets a regional sales period and a subscription-linked support period.

Treat October 31, 2028 as the outside limit: an active subscription that ends earlier sets the earlier support cutoff.

What the EEA exception means for US readers

The terms Broadcom announced are for EEA customers. Network World reports that the exception does not extend to the United States or other markets outside the EEA.

For multinational IT teams, different regional product paths can also mean different operating routines. Aman Mahapatra of Tribeca Softech warned that separate patch schedules, security baselines, tools and skills could complicate disaster-recovery planning across regions. Matt Kimball of Moor Insights & Strategy said an extension could also postpone modernization work. Those are analysts’ views on the possible consequences of the window, not terms in Broadcom’s announcement.

vSphere Express is a separate vSphere 9 offer

Broadcom separately describes vSphere Express, based on vSphere 9, for smaller environments of up to 128 cores. The company says it is available immediately in all regions and lists vMotion, High Availability, Distributed Switch, vCenter Quick Patch, and TPM 2.0 and vTPM 2.0 support.

Express is a separate offer from the EEA sales and support terms for vSphere Standard 8 and vSphere Enterprise Plus 8. Individual Reddit users have reported distributor pre-approval requirements for Express purchases; those accounts do not establish a universal eligibility rule.
