OpenAI is rolling out separate iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar connections globally across ChatGPT plans on web, desktop, and iOS, subject to workspace controls. MacRumors reported that OpenAI announced the connections on October 27, 2026. The account identifier differs by service, and disconnecting a connection in ChatGPT does not revoke its Apple app-specific password. Which iCloud accounts ChatGPT connects
ChatGPT connects to iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar through separate connections. For Mail, OpenAI lists an iCloud address ending in @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com. Calendar uses the primary Apple Account email, which may be different. Connecting one service does not authorize the other.
Both connections include read-only contact lookup. OpenAI says standalone Contacts and Reminders connections are outside this rollout. (OpenAI’s account connection instructions; OpenAI’s connected-app details)
What permissions and data settings change
ChatGPT may ask you to approve access before it reads information or takes an action. OpenAI’s permission controls determine when approval prompts appear; they do not expand what the connected app can access. Available controls depend on the app, account, and workspace.
For Free, Plus, Go, and Pro, OpenAI may use information accessed through apps to train models if “Improve the model for everyone” is on. For Business, Enterprise, and Edu, app information is not used for training by default. With Memory enabled, ChatGPT may remember relevant information accessed from an app unless the app or source restricts it. (OpenAI’s connected-app details)
What disconnecting does, and what it leaves behind
In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Plugins and disconnect the relevant app or account to stop future access through that account. If you connected more than one account, disconnect each one you want to remove. This does not revoke the Apple app-specific password: revoke it separately through Apple’s account controls. OpenAI warns that revoking a password shared with other connections can stop those connections too. (OpenAI’s account management instructions)
Disconnecting also does not automatically delete existing or archived conversations, saved files, the Memory summary, or other saved memories. Those items remain separate from the connection itself.
