Clipboard Rules lets you take different actions on the text you have copied to the Clipboard. The tasks you can perform range from opening a log file to manipulate it, to defining rules that correspond to different programs such as video editing, image viewing, and so on.
Setting Up Your First Rule
The environment is very easy to use. Its graphical interface is pleasing and will help you perform actions in a few steps. When you start the utility, you will see its icon in the system tray. Clicking the icon, you will need to select the Add Rule button, and a window will open from which you have to configure the rules and specify the corresponding actions.
The first thing you have to do is determine a name, then write the text for which the platform will define what action to take. For example: "Fallout" (so that it opens the game of the same name). At this point, it must be mentioned that the tool is very sensitive. In our tests, we had to write the exact text. It does not work if you confuse between lowercase and uppercase or insert a tilde or another character.
Next, you must define the program that will start when you copy the rule text to the clipboard. In this case, you can make as many rules as you want. For example, "Diseño" (Design) to run Photoshop, "Editar" (Edit) to run Sony Vegas, or "Fotos" (Photos) to run XnView.
After defining the rule, you click the save button and the rule will be defined in the platform. Rules can be edited, paused, or deleted.
Final Thoughts
Clipboard Rules is a simple tool that works very well and does not consume system resources. In our test on VirusTotal, we detected a threat of 52 (Kingsoft). From our experience, it is a false positive. The tool is portable, free, and works on Windows operating systems.
