If you've ever wondered how old-school games would look reimagined with virtual reality gameplay, now you can get an idea with this video. A group of independent developers presents Contra VR, a virtual experiment with the classic NES game that you can download and try with the HTC Vive headset. This brief demo takes you to the battle against the boss of level 3, Waterfall. Shadow Beast Entrance is the unforgettable alien located outside the first enemy base; it consists of a huge head above the entrance of the base and is armed with two cannons embedded in the alien's shoulders that fire explosives.
Just like in the original game, these cannons are the alien boss's weak point. You have to dodge its shots while concentrating all your firepower on one cannon at a time to destroy it as quickly as possible. Once both cannons are destroyed, all that's left is to shoot the alien head's mouth until it explodes, opening the entrance to the second base as you enjoy a well-deserved victory. Although this Contra VR demo only includes this single boss battle, it's worth every second and will make you wish for another fight against the other bosses. Let's hope developers keep reimagining more classic NES games like this in VR.
