If you're looking for an image viewer to replace the one that comes with Windows, you can start by exploring one of our lists. They are all very good and receive periodic updates, but if you prefer something extremely compact, with no dependencies and easy to transfer to another computer, you should get a copy of CPix.
I currently use FastStone Image Viewer, which in some ways reminds me of the old versions of ACDSee. It works very well, is not heavy, and takes up few megabytes on the hard drive, but I understand that maybe it's not for everyone. For example, what options do we have if what we want is a viewer that runs from a USB drive? An unusual requirement, although nothing out of this world, and traditional viewers don't fulfill it. That's when CPix comes in.
Lightweight and effective image viewer
One folder, a single executable, less than two megabytes. CPix seems like a program from another era, but we definitely appreciate its efficiency. It has functions to convert several formats to JPG, support for DualPhoto, EJPG, MPO and EPL that protect images with encryption, speed parameters in GIF files and other animated formats, basic color-brightness-contrast adjustments, frame-by-frame animation control, and more.
The interface is very simple, and all commands are in the context menu, right-clicking. Keyboard enthusiasts can use zoom with + and -, the arrows or the combo “Spacebar - Backspace” to go through images, or Ctrl+F to fit them to the window.
CPix was updated just under a month ago. The only supported language is English, and as far as I've been able to verify, it's not an open source project. At the same time, VirusTotal gives a perfect result with its executable, and there are no strange behaviors. Recommended!
