On November 6, Wccftech reported that CXMT had 9% of DRAM (dynamic random-access memory) market share in Q3 2026, down from 10% in Q2, attributing the figures to Counterpoint Research. Counterpoint’s published global table lists CXMT at 10% for Q2.

The reported Q3 figures

Wccftech also reported Q3 shares of 38% for Samsung and 29% for SK hynix. It described those figures as a five-percentage-point rise for Samsung and a four-point decline for SK hynix.

Counterpoint’s global Q2 baseline

Counterpoint’s global DRAM market-share table lists these supplier shares for Q2 2026:

SK hynix25%Q2 2026
Micron24%Q2 2026

Counterpoint notes that rounding can keep the displayed percentages from adding up to 100%.

The reported changes imply different Q2 starting points

The changes Wccftech described imply Q2 shares of 33% for Samsung and 33% for SK hynix. Counterpoint’s published global Q2 entries are 38% and 25%, respectively. Those figures do not line up as a quarter-to-quarter comparison.

A market-share change is most useful when both quarters use the same measure and market scope.

Counterpoint’s global quarterly series traces CXMT from 4% in Q2 2025 to 5% in Q3, then 8% in Q4 and 8% in Q1 2026, before reaching 10% in Q2 2026. For another look at memory pressures in Chinese AI hardware, read NeoTeo’s earlier coverage of HBM pressure on Chinese AI accelerator costs.
