Many users seem convinced that Windows 11 22H2 is “the best” so far, but one aspect remains unchanged: it’s completely full of junk. The debloating process is now routine even for fresh installations, and the Debloos application developed by builtbybel helps simplify some steps, while also serving as an assistant to find all configuration options in the new interface.
If someone decides to buy a computer today, they will most likely receive Windows 11 preinstalled. Downgrading to Windows 10 is always an option, but with a little patience and the right tools, the Windows 11 experience can be (much) less traumatic. Logically, the first step is to get to know the operating system: Some users see the new interface and don't know where to start, or lose track of the features they use most.
With that in mind, we come to Debloos. Its developer is builtbybel, whom we already know from ThisIsWin11 and LoveWindowsAgain. From a certain point of view, Debloos is a fusion of his previous tools, combining an assistant especially designed for new Windows 11 users, and advanced resources like bloatware uninstallation.
Optimize and Clean Windows 11 with Debloos
The first function we find in the Debloos interface is an analyzer that studies the current state of the operating system and offers different settings for immediate application, among which several parameters stand out to disable telemetry, uninstall the widgets system, and restore the Windows 10 context menu. The only suggestion I don't like is the installation of WSL, since it is an advanced tool, and not all users need it.
The second function is called “I Want to set up Windows 11 for the first time”, and it gives rise to an assistant that takes us through different sections of the operating system, which includes shortcuts to modify them. For example, “NewLook” takes us to personalization and wallpaper settings, “StartMenu” to Start menu options (if you want more pinned items, or more recommendations), “Apps” to installed applications (i.e., the equivalent of the old “Programs and Features”), and “Privacy” to the Privacy and Security section. If the step-by-step becomes boring, don't hesitate to use the Jump to menu to access other menus.
Debloos is a work in progress, and will probably end up replacing ThisIsWin11 in the future, however, it has some things to improve. The first thing that comes to mind is the tool to uninstall integrated apps. In the current version, Debloos only reports the technical name of the applications (forcing us to google to identify them), when in reality it would be much more useful to see the real name, just as O&O AppBuster does. Apart from that, Debloos works very well, and it is worth downloading a copy.
