DeepSeek lists Search and Fetch at $0.75 per 1,000 successful requests for each endpoint. A workflow that makes one successful call to each costs $1.50 per 1,000 pairs, because the two calls are billed separately. DeepSeek’s pricing page lists the rates in U.S. dollars. Model-token charges are separate.
Forkast News reported on October 18, 2026, that DeepSeek launched the APIs on October 17. DeepSeek’s guide describes Search as a web query that returns structured results and Fetch as a way to retrieve one page as Markdown.
What Search and Fetch do
| Endpoint | Function | Price per 1,000 successful requests | Account rate limit |
| Search | Returns structured web results for a query | $0.75 | 5 requests per second |
| Fetch | Retrieves one page as Markdown | $0.75 | 5 requests per second, plus a per-domain limit |
When a request is billable
A Search request counts as successful when it returns HTTP 200 and a non-empty results array. Fetch counts as successful when it returns HTTP 200 and page content. DeepSeek does not bill failed requests, empty Search results or timeouts.
Search’s optional count setting controls the number of results, from 1 to 50, and defaults to 10. It does not change the per-request price. The two endpoints have separate account-level limits, and using multiple API keys does not increase either limit. Fetch also has a per-domain rate limit.
The cost of a complete Search-and-Fetch workflow
For 1,000 pairs, with each pair consisting of one successful Search call and one successful Fetch call, the calculation is $0.75 + $0.75, or $1.50. At 10,000 such pairs, the total is $15, assuming every call succeeds. This calculation uses the two per-endpoint rates published by DeepSeek.
Search and Fetch are standalone retrieval endpoints; model-token usage is priced separately. The retrieval fees apply when a client makes successful calls to those endpoints, rather than being another per-token charge.
Scheduled billing for named integrations
DeepSeek’s published schedule sets the start of per-request billing for qualifying server-side Search and Fetch calls through DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code and Codex at 12 a.m. Beijing time on November 1, 2026. Those qualifying calls are free until billing begins under that schedule. The scheduled start is 4 p.m. UTC on October 31, 2026. DeepSeek’s pricing page lists the date and covered integrations.
