In about two months, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and to get in the mood there's nothing better than a terrifying trailer of pure dystopia where society divides into two groups: natural people versus mechanically augmented people.
The Mechanical Apartheid trailer
The Mechanical Apartheid is the name of the new trailer for the long-awaited Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The story is set in 2027, where technology advances at a frenetic pace, with people possessing everything from artificial eyes to cybernetic limbs. This sparked controversy in society, as some claim it's unnatural while others wonder what would happen if that technology fell into the wrong hands. But the worst occurs when mechanically augmented people all over the world suffer extreme psychotic delusions, lose control, and start attacking people. Millions died and hundreds of thousands were injured.
As a result of this global catastrophe, society is divided by hatred, prejudice, and fear, and many countries are enacting very harsh laws. Among them, the most controversial is the "Law of Human Restoration", aimed at isolating "aumens" (mechanically augmented people) and keeping them away from "natural" people.
Set in 2029 (two years after Deus Ex: Human Revolution), Deus Ex: Mankind Divided marks the return of Adam Jensen, who possesses part of this new technology in his mechanically augmented body.
Now Jensen works with Interpol to capture a terrorist group of mechanically augmented people. The gameplay retains a first-person perspective, with a third-person cover system. The role-playing elements are still present, allowing players to improve their character to handle combat situations, use the hacking system, stealth, and interact socially with other characters (with multiple dialogue options that can change the course of the adventure).
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is being developed by Eidos Montreal and will be available on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One starting August 23, 2016.
