From the famous website that lets you download more RAM to the classic absent-minded customer who walks into a store asking for “Windows DOS,” the world of computing has given rise to all sorts of hilarious situations. The latest example comes straight from the Google Play Store, where a company called “Zillow Free App” published an app that simply says “32 GB SD Memory Card”, complete with truly wonderful reviews…
Last year we explored some sites that aim to get a laugh out of those of us who work with computers and phones all day long, from the classic Download More RAM to the fabulous Fake Update that lets you (among other things) escape the desktop for a few minutes. We should also add an endless stream of memes that turn the irritating aspects of our daily tools into humor. The dreadful performance of Windows search, the forced Windows 10 updates, the requests for administrator permissions when in fact you are the administrator… the web has left no stone unturned. What's next on the list? How about downloading a microSD card from the Play Store?

“32 gigabytes!” Why pay 9 euros like any other consumer when you can tap the Install button and increase your device's capacity? The comments are telling: one user who keeps more than 80 gigabytes of homework on their phone downloaded this app and their space increased. Another user downloaded it several times, tired of the operating system's warnings, and then there are those who believe it's “the end of the game” for memory and solid-state drive manufacturers. Personally, I can't wait for developers to create something similar to download SSDs and batteries. How hard can it be…?
The Aftermath
That said… this app had the potential to become the tech joke of the year, if it weren't for the fact that it has already been pulled from the Play Store. Several moral crusaders came to its defense, when the logical thing would be to criticize the Play Store managers for allowing all sorts of junk to be published there.
