Earlier we explained how to download and install Windows 11 using that first leaked image, but the truth is Microsoft has already released some updates. Accessing Insider builds the traditional way requires active participation with a compatible Microsoft account. However, there is an alternative to download Windows 11 Preview, and that is UUP Dump. This site will help you get all the relevant files, as well as generate the ISO image for installation on physical machines and virtual environments.
Like it or not, Windows 11 is on its way. The controversy over its technical requirements is still alive, and Microsoft doesn't seem to have given an inch, thus confirming another long-term conflict between Redmond and users.
All arrows point to October as the launch month, starting with new devices... but many people out there want to try OS images today. That raises a question: How can we get the latest builds without falling into the Insider program ritual? The answer is the UUP Dump portal.
How to download Windows 11 Preview
UUP Dump works as a kind of assistant that helps you choose step by step the exact configuration to prepare the Windows 11 Preview image. The first thing we must do is click on the Downloads section, and choose the appropriate AMD64 image (you can also get the ARM64 version to install Windows 11 on a Raspberry Pi 4)
In the second phase, we select the operating system language and edition. If you are looking for a special edition (say, Education) you will need to include the corresponding base edition (e.g., Education and Enterprise need Windows Pro). Finally, UUP Dump will ask for confirmation of the download method, and the secondary conversion options.
Creating the ISO
Personally, I recommend using the option "Download and convert to ISO", and leaving all conversion checkboxes empty. That will save you a lot of time, and any existing update can be installed later easily. Otherwise, you will need patience and a bit of extra firepower to integrate updates and recompress files.
The result is a download package containing a script in CMD format specially prepared to download Windows 11 Preview and create the corresponding ISO image. The only advanced requirement is to save that script in a folder with a name without spaces, as it works with the system console (there are also script versions compatible with Linux and MacOS). Run the script with elevated privileges, and wait.
How long can it take? On our test machine with 16 threads, 16 GB of RAM and a couple of SSDs, the download of Windows 11 Preview and its subsequent conversion to ISO image took about thirty minutes, a reasonable delay if we consider that this is the latest and "cleanest" Windows 11 image, and it only needs to be produced once.
