The last thing any Windows user wants to see on their computer is a blue screen. Its appearance guarantees problems, or at least a long diagnostic process that doesn't always end well. But the web has that curious habit of finding some humor even in the worst situations, and that's how we arrive at Editable Fake Error Screens, a section of the Ravbug.com portal that offers death screens to edit to your liking.
The Day of the Innocents is next December 28, and if you're thinking of playing a light prank, the Windows blue screen of death is a good candidate. The problem is that it's not easy to capture one, and no conventional software works at that level of interruption. While there are resources to generate fake death screens, the Ravbug.com portal has an entire section dedicated to them, called Editable Fake Error Skins.
How to Create Custom Death Screens
The available options are five: Windows 7 BSOD, Windows 7 boot error, Windows 8 BSOD, Windows 10/11 BSOD, and the GSOD from the beta versions in Windows 10 and Windows 11. To edit them, just click on a word and the cursor will appear immediately. You can leave the original message completely in English, translate its content to make it more convincing, or change only what you need.
The Windows 7 and 8 screens are classic, but on Windows 10 and 11 the user also receives a QR code, which enables an extra layer of complexity for the potential prank. Now, the capture itself is your responsibility: there's no Download button here, and its priority is text editing in all cases.
The rest is up to you. Personally, I think I would place one of these screens as a wallpaper, hide the desktop icons, and set the taskbar to auto-hide, hiding the cursor in a corner as a final step. Devilish, but effective.
