With FastWindowsSwitcher you can move freely between running programs and taskbar items using a hotkey. The platform surpasses the native Windows options (Alt + Tab). The tool works with Windows Store environments and third-party ones. The option to open or access items pinned to the taskbar is what differentiates this service from the native Alt + Tab.
Set up the shortcut
Once you run the program, it will start working from the system tray. At this point you'll need to click on the platform's icon and select “Setting” and access the configurations. From there, you can change the main shortcut combination, which by default is “Windows + Y”.
Use the shortcut
Now all you have to do is press the “Windows + Y” shortcut for several letters of the alphabet to appear on screen, over each running program or each item pinned to the taskbar. Then you'll have to press the letter of the item or program for it to appear in the foreground.
In our case, the letter “g” is used to activate the web browser Google Chrome. As you can see, the platform is very easy to use and offers us an alternative to the native Windows option.
The downside we see in the platform is that to activate the tool you always need to press a shortcut (Windows + Y) and then you press a key that corresponds to each item or program. Anyway, many may find relief in this, as they don't have to remember all the letters associated with the programs.
