Do you like ship shooters? Are you a fan of Macross and Robotech? Then this game is for you. Galak-Z: The Dimensional is the upcoming ship and mech shooter with anime-style intergalactic battles.

17-BIT, the independent studio behind Skulls of the Shogun, is about to release its second game: Galak-Z: The Dimensional, a shooter with anime-style intergalactic battles. Jake Kazdal, the CEO of 17-BIT, drew inspiration from 80s ship shooters and classic anime of the genre. Fans of Macross and Robotech will remember that ships transformed into huge mechs; well, guess what? Galak-Z: The Dimensional lets you do exactly the same: convert your ship into a powerful mech at any moment to face enemy ships.

The mech mode is a new way to play Galak-Z: The Dimensional. When facing enemies, you can use a sword to cut them in two or grab them with an extending arm, smash them, and then throw their discarded remains at another ship and enjoy a double explosion of fireworks. Great! When under attack, the mech has a huge directional shield that deflects and absorbs the deadliest attacks. Additionally, the stages are quite extensive and contain elements that can be very helpful during fights, such as picking up and throwing an asteroid.

With just one button press, you can transform from ship to mech and vice versa, allowing you to develop different attack tactics. For example, you can start an attack in ship mode, unleashing a missile barrage to destroy enemy shields, accelerate to maximum, and transform into a mech with sword raised to eliminate the remaining threat. The possibilities are endless.

Galak-Z: The Dimensional is being developed by 17-BIT and will be available starting August 4, 2015 on PlayStation 4, while the Windows version will come out a couple of months later. Unfortunately, the PlayStation Vita version has been canceled.
