Gifster is a program that lets you record the desktop as an animated GIF or capture part or all of your screen as a JPG, giving you a platform with both recording and screen capture options.
The environment also allows you to customize the recording by adjusting frames per second, the mouse cursor, and the scale, among other options.
Once you download the program from its official page, you'll see its interface and a box to set the aspect ratio of the screen recording. Before you start recording, you can choose frames per second, the cursor, the destination folder, thumbnail capture, and the frame itself, although you can adjust it later with the mouse. Then you just need to click the record button.
During recording, you'll notice the frame can move freely across the screen, but the recording will only capture the area selected before you started.
Honestly, this platform is a great option for capturing and recording the desktop as an animated GIF. It doesn't yet have a preview, the ability to remove unwanted frames, or more ways to customize the recording, but it does let you take snapshots, giving you both screen recording options in one tool.
Gifster is a free program available for Windows operating systems.
