Google is rolling out Better Together support for Samsung phones running One UI 9, based on Android 17. The integration connects a compatible phone with a Googlebook, but setup also calls for specific phone-service versions, the same personal Google Account on both devices, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. 9to5Google reported on October 10, 2026, that the rollout was underway; Google said service updates would arrive automatically over the following days, with updates coming fastest when devices are connected to Wi-Fi and charging. Google’s announcement names the eligible software generation and setup guidance, while 9to5Google’s report dates its account of the rollout.
What Better Together adds to a Galaxy phone
Google named four features for Samsung phones: Continue On carries supported activities between devices; Cast My Apps brings phone apps to the Googlebook; Quick Access provides access to files; and Notification Sync syncs phone notifications. Google also said its Play services update reduces the steps in first-time setup and addresses a QR code that could remain onscreen after pairing was complete.
Google’s announcement also lists Pixel and compatible Android 17 phones from Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus, Motorola, Lenovo, Honor, Sharp and Sony. For Samsung, the stated software condition is One UI 9 based on Android 17.
NeoTeo has also covered Googlebook’s Glowbar and Game Controls, two other features of the laptop platform.
9to5Google’s October 12 walkthrough shows the Googlebook OS interface and a Cross-Device Services demonstration that includes Cast My Apps.
What a Samsung phone needs to connect
Google’s setup guidance specifies these checks:
| Check | Requirement |
| Samsung software | One UI 9, based on Android 17 |
| Phone services | Google Play services version 26.37 or later; Cross-device services version 1.0.1346 or later |
| Account | The same personal Google Account on the phone and Googlebook |
| Wireless connections | Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled on both devices |
If pairing does not work
On the phone, open Cross-device services > Continue activity and check that Tasks, Apps, Notifications, and Files & media sharing are enabled. Google recommends restarting both devices after checking the settings.
The network can matter, too. Some hotel, café, office and guest Wi-Fi networks isolate connected devices, preventing them from communicating locally. Google recommends trying a private home Wi-Fi network. If the connection still fails, temporarily pausing a VPN or network DNS blocker is a troubleshooting test—not a general requirement.
What Galaxy owners have reported
A Galaxy S26 Ultra owner reported that Cast My Apps was working. A Galaxy Z Fold 7 owner reported that both Cast My Apps and Continue On worked, while describing Continue On as somewhat buggy. Those posts describe the users’ individual experiences: the S26 Ultra report and the Z Fold 7 report.
