Bloomberg reported on October 30, 2026, that Google was in talks with the U.S. Department of Defense about a data-security effort for Golden Dome, the proposed U.S. missile-defense program.
Bloomberg described a possible role in protecting data that feeds military software, including work involving storage, networking and cybersecurity. The proposed effort would aim to keep data flows resilient if attacks disrupted communications infrastructure such as landlines or cell towers. Bloomberg also distinguished this data-security effort from a separate command-and-control group it reported included Anduril, Palantir and SpaceX.
The talks had not produced a participant decision
A Pentagon official told Bloomberg that preliminary concepts could be explored, but no final decision had been made about forming the consortium or choosing its participants.
The $185 billion estimate covers Golden Dome
Bloomberg cited an estimated $185 billion for the Golden Dome program as a whole.
