If you can't escape the tyranny of printers, the best alternative is to make the most of them... and the GraphPaper tool from the Incompetech portal is a great ally. It's a ruled paper generator that lets us apply dozens of different patterns, define their exact dimensions, and save the result as a PDF to use anywhere.
As someone who has been forced to draw lines on a sheet too many times, I don't hesitate to celebrate the possibility of generating patterns automatically with the computer, and the best part is that now we don't even need to download additional programs.
The Incompetech portal Incompetech focused on distributing royalty-free music for YouTube and other platforms, also offers a section called GraphPaper, which helps us create ruled paper for free. As if that were not enough, all generated patterns belong to the public domain, so we can use them in any project, commercial or not.
How to generate ruled paper with GraphPaper
Our main action on the site is navigation: The generators are divided into categories such as Writing and Bullet Journalling, Plain Grids for creating grids of different types, Patterns with hexagonal, octagonal, triangles, bricks and circles, Recording and Charting, especially useful when recording data, Classic Writing to feed our inner writer, Specialty, which includes musical patterns and storyboards, and finally Quick Picks, with some of the most popular options.
Depending on the characteristics of the pattern, the generator will present different values such as spacing, line thickness, color, and of course, the sheet format, with A3, A4, Tabloid and Letter as presets. GraphPaper prioritizes dimensions by inch, but we can switch to centimeters in a couple of clicks.
The rest is a matter of confirming the generation and downloading the PDF document. Some patterns are certainly favored by the use of color, but nothing prevents us from choosing black or gray on our laser printers.
