Hide says he’ll stop making games but keep programming

Hide announced on October 19, 2026, that he would stop making new games after about 26 years, while continuing to program as a hobby.

What Hide reported about Deserter’s

GameSpark reported that Hide said on October 17 that a cracked copy of Deserter’s was circulating in China. He described it as unofficially translated and apparently modified. GameSpark also reported that the game began selling for PC in Japan through DLsite in March 2026.

What Hide planned for Deserter’s

Hide said he planned an additional-content patch and an all-ages version for Nintendo Switch. He also said he had shelved a planned remake-sequel to Sugoroku Naked (Naked Story). In his October 19 statement, he left the decision on a global Steam release to the publisher.
