The vast majority of users know that Windows has several built-in power plans. These schemes can help us save energy at the expense of greater or lesser CPU performance. Windows has exactly three plans (battery saver, balanced, and performance) and we can even create custom plans. But the problem is that when we need to change the plan, we have to do it manually. If, for example, the power plan is set to performance, but the CPU is idle, the plan will remain on performance regardless of CPU usage. For this reason, we are going to introduce you to a platform that will automatically change the power plan based on CPU load.
The program we will use is GiMeSpace Power Control, which allows you to create power plans (low power and high power) to set them to CPU load percentages. This way, each time the CPU load falls below or above the percentages you set, the plan will change automatically.
How to automatically change the power plan based on CPU load?
Once downloaded and installed GiMeSpace Power Control, the environment will ask you to associate and select a low power scheme (less than 20%) and a high power one (more than 80%) to the Windows plans. If the specified Windows plans do not fit your needs, you can create a custom Windows plan and associate it with the GiMeSpace Power Control plans.
After selecting the power combinations, you will need to set the CPU load percentages for each plan. After doing that, the platform will monitor CPU usage without affecting system load. And depending on CPU load, the plans will change automatically.
In the taskbar, you will see a green icon for a low power scheme and a red icon for a high power scheme. This way, when your CPU is idle, the power scheme will be power saving, and when you work with powerful platforms, the load scheme will be high.
