In this article, we'll show you how to log your mobile device's Wi-Fi activity into Google Sheets, so your internet activity is automatically recorded in a Google Drive folder containing two spreadsheets. We'll use the IFTTT program and create an event to record the Wi-Fi connection activity of your Android device.
The two Google Sheets files will contain, one, all the network connection activity, and the other, the disconnections. (After 2000 entries, another file is created.)
How to set it up
First, create an account on the IFTTT website to create an Applet and download its Android app. Then log in to the web platform and on your Android device.
Now, on the web interface, click on the My Applets menu, select New Applet, and click the “+” icon.
To create a new Applet, just click on the Android device service. (You'll see several options.)
Click the Connects button and choose the option “Connects or disconnects from any WiFi network” (in my case, the first one).
The web platform will automatically connect with your mobile device. As you can see, there are other events you can use. At this point, we need to connect Google Drive to the utility. Click the “+” icon and select the Google Drive service. (You must log in to Google.)
Select the option “Add row to spreadsheet” and the platform will create a Google Sheets file for connection events and another for disconnection events. After customizing the service with the spreadsheet name, the column format, and the folder, just click “Create action”.
As you can see, it's very easy to create a history of your Android device's Wi-Fi connections by reading the spreadsheet that will be hosted in Google Drive.
