To query multiple Gemini Notebook notebooks in one Gemini conversation, open Gemini’s attachment menu, select Gemini Notebook, choose several notebooks, and ask a question. Anu Joy at Android Police reported querying four notebooks in one chat using this route.

What you need

Use the Google account that contains the notebooks you want to query. Google says notebooks sync between Gemini and Gemini Notebook, formerly NotebookLM.

Add multiple notebooks in Gemini on the web

In this English-language screencast, Charles Terrence Harper selects two Gemini Notebook notebooks and asks Gemini to find shared elements or sources.

Anu Joy’s reported web workflow follows these steps:

  1. Open Gemini to start or open a chat.
  2. Select the plus icon in the message box to open the attachment menu.
  3. Choose Gemini Notebook to view your notebooks.
  4. Select the notebooks you want to query together.
  5. Select Add to attach them to the chat.
  6. Ask a question that draws on the notebooks, such as: Which themes or sources appear in both?

Anu Joy also reports that you can send a Gemini response to Google Docs by opening the chat’s three-dot menu and choosing Export to Docs.

Mobile and the Connected App

For the Gemini mobile app, Anu Joy reports using its attachment-plus icon to add notebooks.

In a report published October 23, 2026, 9to5Google described a Gemini Notebook Connected App for managing and querying notebooks through natural-language chat, as well as creating notebooks, adding sources, and saving notes. The report said the app was enabled by default outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States.

Which sources Gemini uses

Google says Gemini Notebook answers are grounded exclusively in notebook sources. Gemini responses may also use web search and other tools. For answers based only on notebook material, use Gemini Notebook; when you ask in Gemini, its response can draw on a broader set of tools.

Google also says notebook changes, including added sources and changed instructions, sync between Gemini and Gemini Notebook.

What Google’s plan quotas count

Google lists two separate limits: the number of notebooks per user and the number of sources allowed in each notebook. Neither is a count of notebooks attached to one chat.

Google describes usage limits separately as compute-based. They vary with prompt complexity, model and features, chat length, and the specific features used.
