Removing watermarks from a photo isn’t rocket science. Any basic tool with Content-Aware Fill should be able to erase their content, and in the past we’ve talked about options like Magic Eraser for processing marks and objects of all kinds. However, the WatermarkRemover.io portal applies an algorithm that lets us remove watermarks with more complex patterns, and in some cases covers the entire image.
This is a delicate topic, I won’t deny it: When it comes to removing watermarks from an image, conflicts of all kinds can arise, but our goal is simply to explore the available tools and find out how well they perform. With that in mind, we arrived at the portal of WatermarkRemover.io, which applies a good dose of artificial intelligence to the removal process. From a certain point of view, we can interpret it as a “Content-Aware Fill” without user intervention.
WatermarkRemover.io: Remove watermarks easily
The process is so simple it barely deserves a description: All you have to do is upload a local image (or paste a URL) that doesn’t exceed 2,400 by 2,400 pixels, and wait a few seconds. The result will appear at the bottom of the screen, alongside the original copy. The quality of the erasure depends on multiple factors, from the image content to the pattern used by the watermark.
For example, in our first test WatermarkRemover.io did a good job, but it didn’t manage to completely remove relatively simple watermarks, and it modified details it shouldn’t have touched. However, when we loaded a second image with a more complex pattern, its result was excellent.
WatermarkRemover.io is free for use with individual images, but if you’re thinking about removing watermarks in batches, you’ll need to purchase one of the premium packages. Even if the marks aren’t removed completely, I think it’s a solid starting point for any subsequent editing, and finish the job manually.
