If you own or rent a home, you can ask Google to blur it in Street View. Google requires proof of address, and an applied home blur is permanent, so check the document requirements before you submit a request.

Who can request a home blur—and what proof to prepare

Google says the home's owner or tenant can request a blur. Examples of acceptable proof include a utility bill, lease, insurance record, or tax record. The file must be under 10 MB and in PNG, JPG, or PDF format. Google’s Street View help page has the request guidance.

How to submit the request

  1. Open the relevant Street View image. Find the home in Google Maps and open its Street View view.
  2. Choose “Report a problem.” Start the reporting flow for that image.
  3. Follow the home-blur request steps. Provide the requested proof of address and submit the form.

What the blur changes

Google says an applied home blur cannot be undone. It also says that, from the time an image is blurred, it will no longer be used for Google generative-AI prompting. The request does not remove third-party AI-generated images that have already been created or published.

Engadget reported on October 17, 2026, that Google automatically blurs faces and license plates, while blurring a home requires a separate request. Its report also says a Google Street View blur does not apply to other mapping services. Engadget’s account
