Cisco Packet Tracer

Cisco Packet Tracer is one of the best network simulation environments you can use. The platform offers a wide range of devices (routers, hubs, switches, terminals, etc.). Once you have chosen the devices (those with a green dot mean they are connected, while red means they are disconnected), you can connect them using your custom cables. GNS3

GNS3 is a powerful program to simulate a network, with more functions than Cisco Packet Tracer, but it requires advanced knowledge to use. So, if you are a beginner, we recommend using the first option. To create a design project, you will need to create an account and, from the left sidebar, select the following devices: Computers, hosts, terminals, routers, switches, cables, clouds, NAT, etc. Then, you can make the connection using cables and activate the connection by clicking the “Play” buttons (from the toolbar). The green dot will indicate a good connection and the red dots disconnection. The program will install other tools that will help you create network simulation models. The program is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems.

Both programs are very good options to create network models and then simulate them. Both environments have a large number of devices and connectors, the only difference we find is that Cisco Packet Tracer can be used by all users, while GNS3 can only be used by advanced users.
