Sometimes, stopping processes in Windows is more complicated than we imagine. Internal decisions or the effects of the effects of a malware infection can block Task Manager, but there are also cases where even its access is not enough. At the same time, many developers who experiment with executables find the 'official method' of termination tedious. A very interesting alternative is ProcessKO, which places multiple shortcuts to stop processes in the system tray and offers a timer for more precise control.
How do we access Task Manager? Easy: right-click on the taskbar, and click to confirm. Alternatives? Use the taskmgr command, or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Esc. These paths have worked like this in Windows for years, and we see no reason for them to change. However, they are not always available, or they are not very comfortable for the user. Besides exploring resources and analyzing system performance, Task Manager helps us stop processes in Windows, but unless you keep it in the background constantly, going to the process list and pressing the 'End Task' button becomes boring very quickly.
How to stop processes in Windows
So why don't we put the same functionality in the system tray? That's the job of ProcessKO, which we first talked about in mid-2018. A right-click on its icon takes us to the Instant KO menu, and we click on the process to stop, that's all. Its main interface allows us to configure a list of favorite processes (something useful if we must frequently force-close unstable software), or activate a timer with a maximum value of 24 hours. On the other hand, we find two shortcuts in ProcessKO: Ctrl+Alt+F4 stops the active window, and Ctrl+Alt+F5 restarts its process.
The software works without issues on Windows 10, but we definitely recommend running it with administrator privileges. ProcessKO received an update yesterday that fixes its language files (Spanish is on the list) and offers preliminary support for what will be Windows 10 2004, whose launch will take effect in the coming weeks.
