Generating images with artificial intelligence has many weak points, but three stand out above the rest: the lack of precise control (or rather, its tendency to ignore what a prompt says), the reproduction of physical features like hands or feet, and creation of text, which is usually rendered as a meaningless string. Recently we talked about the possibility of integrating ChatGPT into Tinder. The main image in that article was generated with artificial intelligence, but it gave more problems than I'd like to admit. The original plan was for the terminal screen used by the android to display the legend “Love”, however, the algorithm never cooperated 100 percent. Now, any generative system can improve its results with additional training, and that's how we come to Ideogram AI. On the surface it's an online image generation platform like many others, but it has the advantage of additional optimization that allows it to render text following specific styles. Version 0.1 of Ideogram AI went into public beta on August 29, and you can try it right now.

Once you create an account to log in (you can also use Google credentials), the rest is a matter of preparing your prompt, choosing one or more presets from the list (or the lucky style option for a random selection), defining the image format (10:16, 16:10, and 1:1), and clicking Generate. All images are public, and there's no way to create private galleries for now.
The good news is that Ideogram AI results are usually consistent, and it doesn't force us to do massive prompt engineering to get them (the best images are always based on logos or t-shirt prints). The bad news is that the service is being overwhelmed. A simple generation of four images took more than ten minutes at the time of writing, and then the site temporarily blocked its prompt processing due to excess load. I imagine the experience will be different at another time of day, but if you plan to make heavy use of Ideogram AI, you'll need to be patient.
