I've never had patience for jigsaw puzzles, but I know there are plenty of enthusiasts out there, ready to throw their minds at every piece, overcome the challenge, and reach its final form. That said, what about a puzzle without an end? I mean one that can be assembled in many different ways, and all the player has to do is flip the pieces when moving them from side to side. That's exactly what the Infinite Puzzle offers.
A Puzzle That Never Ends
The last puzzle that showed up in my house ended up eaten by moisture. That makes clear the level of interest it generated in me, but maybe it's time to give it another chance. They say it all starts with finding the right puzzle. It might need a medium beyond cardboard, and its difficulty might not be limited to the "brute force" of the number of pieces. Thanks to new design tools and additional resources like laser cutting, the puzzle has managed to shatter some limits we consider "traditional", including the size of each piece and the complexity of its curves.
That brings us to the Infinite Puzzle. Made of wood, with two general versions (51 and 133 pieces), and truly endless. Depending on the path each player takes, the Infinite Puzzle takes on multiple forms that have no defined boundaries. The official site explains that pieces from the right side can be placed on the left side as long as you flip them. Additionally, the smaller version allows you to connect several copies of the puzzle, creating advanced patterns. According to its creators, the inspirations for the Infinite Puzzle are a torus (not the animal, but the surface) and the so-called Klein bottle.
In short: there is no "correct" way to assemble this puzzle. You place the pieces on the table and start connecting them until you're satisfied.
Versions and Pricing
The most visually striking version (Infinite Galaxy Puzzle) features a background of the Galactic Center captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, while the other edition (Infinity Puzzle) is available in four different colors. Prices are $100 and $50 respectively, and shipping takes between 7 and 14 days.
