We're not here to criticize or approve what capitalism has to offer. Nor do we intend to evaluate possible alternatives, their past failures, or potential benefits. The truth is that behind every system there are people, and some elements (whether individuals or companies) are convinced that eliminating the human factor is necessary to keep the wheel turning. The Facebook profile 'Inhumans of Late Capitalism' tries to reflect that loss of humanity in a series of striking images that, as expected, polarize social network users…
Freejack? Blade Runner? Cyberpunk 2077? RoboCop? Total Recall? For many people out there, those apocalyptic futures controlled by iron-fisted megacorporations are anything but fictional; they're unfolding here and now, in real life. The slow but consistent collapse of the human species, one product at a time, one service at a time, one sale at a time. A dance of precarious employment, phone screens glowing in the night, workers urinating in bottles inside factories, super-rich unveiling mansions, and the idea that you must buy to exist.
Inhumans of Late Capitalism seeks to reflect and visualize this deterioration through a cascade of provocative images, true intersections between technological capitalism and the advance of inhumanity, which inevitably trigger all sorts of feelings, but tries to maintain a minimum dose of humor to make the pill less bitter. Of course, they don't always succeed, and some take the content too seriously, or end up giving reasons to express their discontent that turn into entire theses.
