Intel reported two different construction milestones at its U.S. fabs on October 21, 2026: equipment installation was underway at Fab 62 near Phoenix, Arizona, and crews had installed the first major structural truss at Ohio One in New Albany, Ohio. Both were build-out milestones, not production milestones: one site was receiving tools while the other was still at structural construction.
Fab 62 and Ohio One had reached different stages
At Intel’s Ocotillo campus near Phoenix, crews were installing equipment at Fab 62. At Ohio One, the reported step was structural: the first major truss had been installed at the first fab. A truss is a load-bearing framework used to support a building’s roof or other structure.
The distinction matters for chip supply. Equipment installation and structural work are separate stages on the way to operating a fab; neither milestone described chip output from the new facility.
Intel’s dated schedule for Ohio One
Intel’s February 28, 2025 plan separated construction completion from the start of operations for the two Ohio One modules:
| Ohio One module | Planned construction completion | Planned operations |
| Mod 1 | 2030 | 2030–2031 |
| Mod 2 | 2031 | 2032 |
Intel said construction would continue at a slower pace, with flexibility to accelerate the work and start of operations if customer demand warranted. The October 21, 2026 truss milestone did not announce a new Ohio operating timetable. Intel’s Ohio One schedule is the company’s dated plan.
The Los Angeles Times reported on October 21, 2026, that Intel had stronger orders for its own data-center processors used for AI services. That demand context is separate from production at Fab 62 or Ohio One.
