Apple’s iOS 27.0.1 update was reported released in the US on September 28, 2026. Its release notes list three fixes: unexpected restarts when Face ID authentication fails on iPhone 18 Pro models, a camera color artifact under specific conditions on some of those phones, and an unresponsive touchscreen when two interface panels open at once.
What iOS 27.0.1 fixes
Apple lists these three issues:
- Face ID-related restarts: iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may unexpectedly restart when Face ID fails to authenticate.
- A camera color artifact: On a small number of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices, a color artifact may appear in photos taken at 2× and f/1.48 under certain lighting conditions.
- An unresponsive touchscreen: Opening Notification Center and Control Center simultaneously may leave the touchscreen unresponsive.
The Face ID fix concerns the restart triggered by failed authentication. Apple’s listed issue is specific to the two named Pro models and that failure condition. The camera fix is similarly narrow: it applies to the stated 2×, f/1.48 and lighting conditions on a small number of those devices.
Build 24A446 and a device-specific download size
A hands-on update check displays build number 24A446. The download measured 1.21 GB on the iPhone 18 Pro Max used in that check; that is a device-specific measurement, not a universal package size.
