Selling digital space is one of the oldest practices on the Web... and one of the least sensible, considering that the Internet is rotting at full speed. However, the public renews itself as quickly as links, and so we arrive at «La Página de las 24 horas», an artistic project by Justin Higgins. The idea is that any user can promote an image and a link that will appear for one second of the day on their page, but they must buy a token if they want the publication to be permanent.
«La Página del Millón de Dólares» was a project started by English student Alex Tew in August 2005. Basically, Alex put up for sale a 1000 x 1000 pixel page at one dollar per pixel, divided into 10 x 10 blocks. The last 1,000 pixels were auctioned on eBay in early 2006, which allowed him to reach the goal of one million dollars to finance his higher education. What happened? Alex dropped out of school after one term, and in 2012 he founded Calm, a company focused on meditation products. The original page is still online, but link rot is eating it alive. So, what comes next?

The project is called «La página de las 24 horas», a creation of software engineer Justin Higgins. The first thing we must highlight about this page is that it has a more defined artistic profile. Instead of fighting to buy pixels, users have access to one second of the day, in which they can publish an image and an associated link when clicking on it. This step is completely free, but there is a detail: free posts overwrite each other.
The only way to guarantee the permanence of the image and the link is by buying a token. Its price increases by one cent of a dollar with each transaction, and at the time of writing these lines it stands at 9 dollars and 19 cents. If you think the project sounds absurd, well... think again: Justin has already sold more than 900 seconds on his site, and considering that a full day has 86,400 seconds, the possibility of obtaining additional income is quite large.
