What exactly is LilyPond? One of the best resources for writing sheet music on the computer, and editing existing ones. LilyPond is particularly complex and mastering it requires many hours of practice, but if music is your world, you need to study it more closely.
Computers can do many things... as long as they have the backing of good software. For example, Microsoft decided to integrate virtual reality and 3D printing apps in the latest editions of Windows, but users did not hesitate to look for more complete tools. Something similar happens with music: Redmond's offering for creating or writing melodies has always left much to be desired; however, the market comes to the rescue with very interesting options. One of them is LilyPond, which carries almost three decades of development on its shoulders.
LilyPond: Advanced Tool for Writing Sheet Music
LilyPond enables musicians of all levels to produce sheet music easy to read, and with an excellent aesthetic profile. One of the most important features of this software is its flexibility: whether it is ancient, classical, or modern music, its notation adapts to all cases. It also allows the inclusion of lyrics, guitar chord guides, and the creation of exercises. Another detail we cannot ignore in LilyPond is the automatic generation of MIDI and PDF files to listen and print anywhere.

Now, that is only half of the equation. LilyPond is a particularly complicated program to use, and its difficulties extend to basic configuration. In fact, downloading LilyPond from the official page is not enough: with a visit to the updated learning manual, the user will see that you must first install a copy of the Frescobaldi editor before using LilyPond. As if that were not enough, the latest build of Frescobaldi (3.3.0 at the time of writing) has a bug when rendering notes, so I recommend downgrading to version 3.2.0, which works perfectly.
In short, LilyPond has a very demanding learning curve and certain technical details that not all users will accept, but undoubtedly we are facing one of the best options available when it comes to writing sheet music, and its results are truly amazing.
