The Web offers many resources, and one of them is Lucidpress. It works directly from the browser, requires no external plugins, offers a variety of formats that serve as an excellent starting point, and even gives you a small amount of online space to save your work, free of charge.
Designing a web page is simple, the number of options is notable, social networks help a lot to expose your content, and depending on the goal, you don't need to invest a large amount of money. In fact, many platforms offer free accounts so you can get your feet wet, and from there you can determine what best fits your plans. Now, if you want to complement your website or avoid that route altogether, how about a magazine? It doesn't have to be a project with hundreds of pages. Maybe you want to promote a new product from your micro-enterprise, communicate news from a club, a local non-profit organization, or something within those parameters. Edgardo recommended a series of tools for entrepreneurs last May, and one of the ones on the list is Lucidpress. Let's take a closer look.
At first glance, Lucidpress can be a bit intimidating, but don't worry: In its help section you'll find an excellent interactive tutorial (it's six very simple exercises), which will teach you all the basic editor elements in just a few minutes. Basically, the process of adding content is limited to dragging the desired function (text, shapes, images, etc.) from the sidebar onto the document, and it will dynamically present rules that anticipate its exact location, plus the option to rotate elements and modify their format in greater depth. If you need to replace one of those elements, in most cases it's enough to double-click.
Lucidpress has much more, and its basic account is free, although it comes with some limitations. The first is that your magazine cannot exceed three pages. The second is that when downloading your content as PDF, the resolution will be 72 dpi (enough for web distribution, but not for larger prints). Finally, the cloud storage is 25 megabytes, somewhat reasonable (or not) depending on your work intensity. The next tier costs six dollars per month if paid in one-year blocks, or otherwise ten dollars per month. To access the free mode, just create an account.
