Extermination experts say that cockroaches are more or less like us. They look for safe places, quick access to food and drink, and adapt easily to their surroundings. So what are they doing inside a PlayStation 4? Sony's console (and those of other manufacturers too) offers a safe and isolated space where cockroaches can enter, leave, move around, and breed without any trouble. Beyond the problem that a cockroach invasion represents, the truth is that it doesn't promise anything good for the console, since an unexpected short in the power supply or another part of the PCB will blow everything up.
That reminds us of the need to inspect any piece of electronics very carefully, or we might end up like Roach Man, a Korean man who bought a used PlayStation 4 that was destined for the trash (a decision by the original owner's wife, who apparently knew what was going on inside the console). When starting the data transfer, Roach Man detected a very particular smell from the PlayStation 4, and a few seconds later the first cockroaches escaped. The almost two-hour stream that Roach Man shared on Twitch ended up with 30,000 viewers, which essentially boil down to Roach Man screaming every time he sees a cockroach, spraying the PlayStation 4 with insecticide, and killing stunned cockroaches with a lighter.
