"Me Aburre la Cuarentena": Random Content to Beat Boredom During Quarantine

People are doing what they can to get through quarantine. They revisit abandoned hobbies, catch up on books, series, and movies, finish postponed games, and tidy up their surroundings. From a certain point of view, this "free time at home" is something positive... however, it drags a dark side. Anxiety, depression, and loneliness are consequences that need to be watched closely, but there is also boredom. There always comes a point when you think the web has nothing left to surprise you, and if you're close to reaching it, visit the portal "Me Aburre la Cuarentena", which presents music, movies, theater, books, and comics randomly, with just one click.

You can watch the same movie ten times, review the best moment of a season, or start a game you've finished dozens of times with the promise that you'll create a different character... and break that promise fifteen minutes in. You can clean the house, wash clothes, and cook (or at least try). Or you can do none of that and let boredom win. Personally, I don't think that's the best option, but if you can't find anything viable... why not let the web choose for you?

That leads us to "Me Aburre la Cuarentena", a portal created by developer Alejo Mayuri. In essence, its behavior is similar to Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" button, with the difference that its results focus on music, movies, plays, books, and comics that you can play/read online or download for offline consumption.

Obviously, it's a "work in progress" because there are more and more sources that free their content until the crisis is behind us, so it's logical to expect frequent updates. What exactly can you find? Most likely, the Music category will take you to YouTube to discover new artists, and a click on Cinema sent me to a copy of the movie belonging to the 'Hey Arnold!' series, something I truly didn't expect.

Another click on Theater revealed the full upload of 'PLAYOFF', a play by Marta Buchaca. The Books section seems to prioritize Cortázar's stories for some reason, and Comics boils down to two options: the portal vercomics.com, or a selection on Dropbox.

In short, it's more than enough to start fighting boredom during quarantine. We can't say exactly how long this portal will stay online, but don't hesitate to take advantage of it.
