A 30-year legacy
The first Mega Man was released 30 years ago on the beloved NES on December 17, 1987, and Capcom celebrates that legacy with a gift for fans of the series. Mega Man 11 marks the return of Capcom's blue robot since the release of Mega Man 10 in 2010. But unlike other modern sequels in the franchise like the aforementioned Mega Man 10, this eleventh installment makes the leap to 2.5D graphics instead of keeping the traditional 8-bit retro aesthetic of previous titles. A fresh new look for Mega Man
Mega Man 11 presents a new design, jumping into the modern era of games with beautiful 3D-modeled characters and hand-drawn environments. This is Mega Man as you remember him, full of the same determination to destroy Dr. Wily's machines and put an end to his diabolical plans. Jump, shoot, and slide through unique and colorful environments to defeat the Robot Masters and claim their weapons as your own. A curious detail you can see in the video is that now Mega Man's appearance changes when he uses a Robot Master's weapon.
More Mega Man on the way
Along with Mega Man 11, Capcom also announced Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, which previously came out on GameCube and PlayStation 2, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows during the next year. Furthermore, the company announced that the eight games of the Mega Man X spin-off series will also be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows, although there are no details now on whether that will be in a bundle or as individual releases. Mega Man 11 is being developed by Capcom and will be available on Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game does not have a concrete release date but it is expected to arrive sometime in late 2018.
