What Is Meshroom?
With Meshroom you can create a 3D model from a set of images (of an object) taken from different angles. The platform analyzes the images using various photogrammetric algorithms and calculates surface points to then trace the 3D model, which you can export as an OBJ file. Thanks to its integrated 3D viewer, you can see the generated model from all angles, to make modifications or save it.
These 3D models serve several purposes: they can be used for 3D printing, creating sculptures and prototypes, among other applications.

Getting Started with Meshroom
Once you download Meshroom on your computer, you'll notice its minimalist interface. The first step is to drag and drop the folder containing all the images of the object you want to reconstruct in 3D into the workspace. From the viewer, you can remove photos or adjust their parameters.
When the program finishes its analysis, you'll see the 3D model in the workspace and can begin reconstruction. At this point, you need to connect the nodes (with the cursor) and modules. If you're an advanced user, you have the option to add custom values to the object's parameters.
Viewing and Exporting the Model
Once the reconstruction process is complete, you'll have a 3D model in the viewer. With the cursor, you can view the model from different angles and points of view. You'll find the OBJ file of the model in the project folder. Meshroom also records all the operations performed during the 3D model reconstruction, and you can view them from a command window that runs alongside its GUI.

With Meshroom, novice users can create a 3D model from images very easily, although the result may not be perfect. If you're an advanced user, you'll be able to understand its modules more clearly and significantly improve the model creation.
Performance and Results
Meshroom is a free, open-source photogrammetry program. In our tests (with a very good GPU), processing the 3D model took quite some time, but the final result is on par with other commercial environments.
