Meta is reportedly developing Luna, an internal codename for smart glasses designed without an outward-facing camera but with voice access to Meta AI and Muse. The reported concept would trade photo and video capture for audio-based AI interaction—not remove every privacy concern.
The reported audio-first feature set
The glasses are reportedly planned with six built-in microphones, open-ear speakers directed toward the wearer, and a physical side button for quick access to Meta AI. Voice interaction could also reach Muse, Meta's personal AI agent. The design is said to have slimmer temple arms than earlier Meta smart glasses, with Clubmaster and Burbank mentioned as possible frame styles.
What removing the camera changes
Without an outward-facing camera, the reported design would remove photo and video capture through the glasses. But the privacy trade-off is narrower, not gone: voice interaction still involves microphones and AI services. Questions about audio activation, processing, retention, and bystander consent remain distinct from camera-based capture.
