Iron Marines
If you like the tower defense style that the Kingdom Rush series does so well, you'll definitely enjoy Iron Marines. In fact, the game is from Ironhide Game Studio and delivers the same great action but set in the future. Instead of knights and archers, you'll be playing with futuristic soldiers and snipers. Fight against aliens and mechs while you plan the best strategy to get through the level at hand. But the best part of this version is that there's even more focus on special characters: individual heroes with unique abilities that you can bring into battle with your other units. Lifeline: Halfway to Infinity
The latest installment in the Lifeline series continues Taylor's story in space. Lifeline: Halfway to Infinity begins right after the events of Lifeline: Silent Night, with Taylor trapped in orbit around a black hole. To make matters worse, the alien Greens are wandering the ship and it seems like it's the end for our hero. But that changes when a mysterious ship appears with someone on board, and it's your job to help the intrepid astronaut figure out who it is. This game is the shortest in the series so far but it's one of the most exciting, with many decisions that will decide the fate of Taylor's life. Puzzle Fighter
Puzzle Fighter (free game): Released in November 2017, Puzzle Fighter is a competitive puzzle game featuring playable characters from various Capcom franchises such as Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Dead Rising, and Mega Man. It's a sequel to Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (1997) where you face players from around the world using gems to trigger epic combos. Unfortunately, this great Capcom game was canceled and will no longer be available starting July 31st, just eight months after its release. This is because the team will focus all its attention on developing the next Dead Rising. For now, you still have time to enjoy this game and take advantage of the fact that all players will receive 10,000 gems, and future characters (Regina, Dr. Wily, and Ada Wong) and stages (Darminor and Uroboros Laboratory) will be available for free until the servers shut down. The End of the World
An interactive work of art that explores the pain of loss and shows how games can be an excellent way to dissect even the most serious narratives. Set in Newcastle, England, The End of the World puts you in the role of a lonely man whose world has been shattered by the loss of the love of his life. As you live day after day, you travel into the past to unravel the circumstances that led to the end of the world and perhaps a way to move forward. The simple controls let you explore the beautifully designed (though small) world in this brief adventure. Developed by Sean Wenham, The End of the World is available on iOS and Android.
Warbits
This is the first game from the two-person team that makes up Risky Lab, and it's an excellent omen for their future. Warbits is a fun turn-based strategy game, in the same style as Advance Wars, but perfected and updated for a whole new generation. The premise is that the game is a tool used by alien races to resolve important disputes instead of the unpleasant business of going to war, and the idea is to eliminate your enemies and capture as much territory as possible before your opponent, using a variety of different units optimized for various tasks. Developed by Risky Lab, Warbits is available exclusively on iOS.
