This week's selection offers a mix of genres, from a memory training game to a space combat simulator, a Diablo clone and, best of all, FRAMED 2 Grab your mobile device and play a game!
Demon's Rise
If you like old-school isometric RPGs, Demon's Rise is a stellar effort from a small Canadian team that you'll love. Inspired by games like Neverwinter Nights and board games, here you have to lead a team of intrepid explorers through a series of dungeons with all the trappings: turn-based combat, upgradeable character classes, loot to collect and twenty-four heroes to assemble a huge number of teams and find the most balanced one. Developed by Wave Light Games, Demon's Rise is available on iOS and Android.
FRAMED 2
The story of FRAMED 2 is itself a prequel to FRAMED, involving once again the silhouette of a man, a woman and a mustachioed man chasing you. It's recommended to play the first game, as it partly serves as the tutorial for this sequel, which throws some easy sequences its way before becoming completely addictive to its concept, challenging you from the start. The basic mechanic is rearranging panels to create the right sequence of events, with the location of characters and elements in each panel playing a contextual role to what happened in previous panels. The developers' effort shows in this sequel that pleasantly surpasses the original. Developed by Loveshack Entertainment, FRAMED 2 is available on iOS and Android.
Galaxy on Fire 3 – Manticore (Free)
The space simulation and combat series culminates with this third installment. If you enjoyed Galaxy on Fire and Galaxy on Fire 2 (not forgetting the MMO Galaxy on Fire – Alliances), Galaxy on Fire 3 – Manticore caps off the franchise. Your mission is to traverse the Neox sector, a dangerous place that hides the galaxy's most wanted criminals. Defeat more than twenty-five ruthless bosses scattered across fifty dazzling locations. Dodge missiles, activate your shields and fire with everything you've got. Developed by Fishlabs, Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore is available on iOS and Android.
Rules!
A memory training game, but not like any memory training game you've played before. Rules! is really fun: It presents a screen of cards, numbered and with images. Each screen gives a rule: for example, tap the cards in descending order, or only tap the red images. When you level up, you're expected to remember previous instructions in order: for level four, you'll be told, for example, to tap odd numbers, then follow rule one, rule two and rule three, without the game reminding you what those rules were. Developed by TheCodingMonkeys, Rules! is available exclusively on iOS.
Ski Safari
Animals, avalanches and action come together to create a new casual gaming experience. Ski Safari puts you in control of Sven, a sleepy young man who has to stay ahead of a relentless avalanche threatening the local mountain slopes. To do that, you can use animals to facilitate the escape; each creature has a different attribute to make the escape faster (penguins slide faster, Yetis are stronger, and eagles soar to great heights). Of course, you can also use snowmobiles that can carry several animals and maintain a very high speed. Don't forget to complete objectives for Sven to level up. Developed by Defiant Development, Ski Safari is available on iOS and Android.
