Some role-playing sessions get so complex that basically anything ends up turned into a miniature to join the combat. Keys, soda caps, toy pieces, food, everything counts. However, thanks to the magic of 3D printing and the extraordinary work of Miguel Zavala, today we can access more than 4,000 free miniatures inspired by Dungeons and Dragons and other universes, ready to print with filament or resin.
Personally, I must admit that I've lost my taste for marathon role-playing sessions. If I can barely process 45-minute episodes in the latest series, the idea of sitting for four or five hours because you have to be there to understand what's next in the story doesn't have much appeal. However, I also understand that that is a comment worthy of an old man yelling at a cloud, and that the world of role-playing is much more exciting and passionate than we imagine.
For example, miniatures. Dungeons and Dragons has always been a weak point for me, and many of its creatures are truly fascinating. Beholders, Illithids, Drow, Githyanki and Githzerai in the Astral Plane and in Limbo, entire cultures, pantheons of cruel and relentless gods, magnificent enemies... all that and much more deserves to be turned into a miniature, and now it's possible thanks to the effort of Miguel Zavala, who has decided to share more than 4,000 models, ready for 3D printing.

Miguel's models are distributed across different platforms. The easiest way to access them is by visiting sites like Thingiverse, Shapeways or Printables, but he also has a Patreon that enables links to all his files on Google Drive and Mega for just one dollar a month. The best part is that these models are not for exclusive use in D&D, and can be applied in all kinds of games, or why not, turned into collectible figures.
The rest is up to you. You can leave the pieces with the natural color of the filament, or start painting... but I understand that is a one-way path.
