If we set aside its abundance of official games, the Mortal Kombat franchise has earned the affection and loyalty of its fans through several fan games. Of course, the industry didn’t hesitate to take note of its popularity and copy various aspects (including the violence of the fatalities), but fans have always drawn inspiration from the original material.

A Bloody Beat 'em Up
Mortal Kombat Outworld Assassins is an updated version of the original released in 2010. This update makes it compatible with OpenBOR 3.0.4153, and also adds widescreen support, something that wasn’t as relevant in 2010. There are three characters to choose from: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Noob Saibot. The original build allowed three players at once, but a new bug in OpenBOR prevents matches from progressing correctly with more than two players.
As you progress, you’ll face increasingly stronger enemies, with some abilities that will surely surprise you on more than one occasion. At the end of each stage, a special boss awaits, represented by one of the classic Mortal Kombat characters. So far I’ve come across Kenshi and Frost, who can only be destroyed with a Fatality. Otherwise, they will recover part of their health and keep fighting.
Portable and Ready to Fight
Mortal Kombat Outworld Assassins takes up less than 90 megabytes on your hard drive, and is completely portable, so you can run it from a temporary folder, with no external dependencies. I recommend reading the How to Play before starting, and if possible, play with a gamepad, since all the action will be more intuitive.
