On Oct. 31, 2026, Elon Musk described plans for two Colossus 2 clusters in the Memphis area: Gun Range for training and Spam for inference. Together, their planned configurations add up to about 420,000 GB300s. Musk set a target of late November for Gun Range and December for Spam.
Training uses data to build an AI model; inference runs a trained model to produce responses. Musk’s plans assign those jobs to separate clusters:
| Planned cluster | Approximate GB300 count | Intended workload | Target timing |
| Gun Range | 220,000 | Training | By the end of November 2026 |
| Spam | 200,000 | Inference | December 2026 |
Musk said Spam’s inference configuration would use simpler networking and less than half the fiber. His wording also implies that Gun Range is intended to use the 800-gigabit NIC training setup he had just described for Macroharder and Minihard. That network detail is an inference about the plan.
Musk’s separate year-end target
In a separate Oct. 31 post, Musk set a target for Colossus 2 to have around 1.2 million Blackwell chips by the end of 2026. That is the overall site target, distinct from the approximately 420,000 GB300s planned for Gun Range and Spam.
