If someone studies the raw COVID-19 numbers (1.5 million infected and nearly 100,000 dead at the time of writing), they might conclude that it's not a good time for jokes... but memes and videos on social media suggest exactly the opposite. Add to that the people who can still move around (or who did until recently) and who apply all sorts of 'solutions' to protect themselves from the virus and optimize their social distancing.
Besides homemade masks with special patterns (don't forget that the U.S. CDC shared a guide to make them), we find full costumes of "plague doctors", knights in armor, lots of plastic bags, the occasional warning, and even car protection. They may not go to extremes like the fruit masks seen in China, but they're not too far off, let's say...
